INTERIOR STYLING

This summer my husband and I delved into some small scale renovations and updates to our home.  Going into month 4 we’ll finally have a finished basement, fresh paint, a re-tiled bathroom floor, plus new plumbing and electric throughout the entire house. After a summer filled with contractors coming and going and a maze of boxes filling pretty much every room, we’ll be thrilled to have the place to ourselves again in only a few short weeks!

As we wrap up the updates we’re looking forward to styling our newly revamped space. Looking at the space holistically we plan to work in a few new pieces, shift some existing furniture around, and refresh all around. I couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to hone in on the elements that we truly love, cull down what we don’t, and set the tone for where we’d like to head as we add some new things to the mix.

Looking at some inspiration for where we’d like to head, here are a few snippets of spaces that combine elements I’m digging – various woods, bright white surfaces, clay, stone and metal accents, subtle patterns or graphic shapes, soft textured fabrics, and a mostly muted palette with only a few hints of brighter hues. Infused throughout our space we’d like inspiration like this to result in what my husband and I have dubbed a “rustic Californian warmth mets clean mid century modern” feel. We’ll see how that translates, but I think the vibe will put us right at home.
